Minuet

So grateful to have spent 15 years with my Minuet. My first show dog, 1st obedience partner,1st puppy I raised from birth. She was so incredibly patient with me as we tried new things, from grooming and growing show coat to agility and obedience. Beloved family member, she was here as the kids grew up. Waking them up in the morning with her spirited Roo- Roo-Roo! She shared her puppies with us. How many of my friends did she teach to groom? To say I will miss her is an incredible understatement. She has made this world a better place.

My hands ache with grief as I long to hold her face in my hands.
Her straight strong jaw resting in my hands as her chin fills the gap where my hands meet.
My thumbs rest in the chiseled space under each eye leaving the space between her eyes open for a soft kiss.
The hair of her top knot tickles my nose as is fills with her smell.
The smell that is as soft and delicate as she is.
Never doggy or dirty but pleasant like only a poodle person knows.
She lingers seeming to inhale my love for and takes it in to saver just as I do her.

The slender delicate face that rests between my palms.
The soulful eyes that pierce my heart
The dark curls that so softly caress
