Breeder Statement

Mavis was born at a time that was hard for me personally. I was in severe back pain. A tree had fallen on our house, and there were a few emotional struggles going on as well.

As a breeder I was at the point where I needed to breed Kindle now or lose what I had worked for in my poodles. Through 3 generations I had produced correct shoulders, a strong top line, a lovely back end with great movement, a graceful long neck and a beautiful head. We had drive enough for agility and frisbee, along with empathy and intelligence for therapy work. Most of all I found my poodles to be wonderful to live with. They are ready to play or ready to snooze on a day better suited for reading books.

Kindle had her first litter at 4 when I finally found a stud dog I thought suited her, and she was now 7. I prayed for wisdom, and had peace to breed Kindle with the hope of keeping a puppy. She was bred to the same stud dog, and the puppies were born April 19, 2015. This was the Thomas the Tank litter, named by my grandson. At this point I knew the registered name of my puppy would be New Destiny’s Count it All Joy. Taken from the book of James in the Bible, the phrase refers to having many trials while knowing that God is at work to perfect us making us complete and lacking nothing.

With my back pain increasing, this was a very hard litter for me to raise. But fortunately the litter had a wonderful canine mom (Kindle), and my husband and children were able to help with raising and socializing the puppies. God provided great families, and at 9 weeks the puppies all went to their new homes -- all but Mavis. She was the last puppy, small perfectly formed and smart. I knew I would keep her.

One week after the puppies went to their new homes, I had went to the hospital for back surgery. When I returned home, I could walk but no bending, twisting or lifting for 3 months! Mavis laid by the couch when I laid down and every hour when I needed to walk, she walked with me. She was truly a joy! I am thankful for my family who took great care of the poodle gang while I was in the hospital and recovering. And I am thankful that I am no longer in pain and I’m stronger and straighter then I have ever been.

Now almost 3 years later, Mavis is a beautiful, loving and smart girl who helps me entertain the dogs that come to visit. She is a good watch dog and very obedient. She is a pleasure to take anywhere.

Mavis has beautiful structure and beautiful movement. She is a UKC champion.

Her registered name is New Destiny’s Count it All Joy. While her call name, Mavis, originally came from the Tommy the Tank character, we did an internet search and discovered that the name Mavis actually means joy. Yes that is who she is!
